“If we want to solve a problem that we have never solved before, we must leave the door to the unknown ajar.”

Business • Development • Technical • Usability

KRD has been providing biomedical systems and solutions for over two decades.

Founder, Dan Baker, Ph.D., has been involved extensively in early-phase product development for over three decades. Consulting and participating with so many companies and individuals over such a wide range of projects has allowed a unique experience to accumulate which extends to much of what happens in the early phases of medical product development.

Usability is an example, and key area where KRD differentiates itself. Not only is the concept incorporated in the technical aspects of a product, it is incorporated into the business also. For instance, user group identification extends to all that affect, or interact, with the product. By building usability into all systems and techniques early, more effective and useful outcomes happen with less cost and effort. This is an under-appreciated area where value is produced for our clients. We use that which we promote and teach because it works.

Another differentiation is in Intellectual Property (IP). We are active in developing and protecting IP. Whether your need is for technical support in a new patent, new embodiments, claim construction, research, infringement/non-infringement, nullity action, freedom-to-operate, or patentability we have experience and knowledge. If you have a need for an expert or a consulting witness, in our technical areas, then contact us.

Our work and experience extends through most medical disciplines with cross-discipline work quite common. Expertise in implants, techniques, and instrumentation affords unique solutions across many disciplines such as:

  • Orthopedics
  • Dental
  • Vascular
  • Radiology
  • Prosthetics
  • Endoscopy
  • Neurosurgery
  • Wound Healing
  • Cardiology
  • Urology
  • Orthotics
  • Laparoscopy
  • Rehabilitation
  • Transplant
  • Emergency/Trauma
  • General Surgery
